2003 – Ethos and Values

Due to a membership issues with DCUK, the Kidsgrove Scouts decided not to compete in the DCUK circuit for the 2003 season.

The organisations long and proud history would be tested to the full, but the ethos and values that every one of the members, staff, friends and supporters have would make the corps stronger than ever.

The corps competed on the BYBA circuit throughout the year but the highlight came when the corps competed at the First ever European Drum Corps Championships in The Hague, Holland. It was a wonderful event and the corps were welcomed with open arms by the European DC community.

The show was entitled “Retribution” and featured Original music by Tez Smith and Malaguena.

The corps placed 1st in the European semi finals show in the and were 2nd in Finals by only one tenth of a point. The crowd reaction to both shows performed by the Scouts that day was amazing.

DrumCorpsOnline.tk describe the stunning performance by Kidsgrove Scouts in the prelims below:

The English guests Kidsgrove Scouts received a warm welcome. Supported by the crowd, this corps did a performance many Dutch corps would be jealous about. Jazzy and very clean. Although they have a relatively small hornline, they played with almost unbelievable power and sound balance. Especially the visual book and their visual performance which resulted in a first place. Malaguena, amazing.
