WINTER REHEARSALS REPORT

Winter rehearsals report – November 11th, 25th and December 9th 2007

Kidsgrove Scouts held their first open rehearsal’s on Sunday 11th &  25th  November. After a huge amount of preparation all parties were very pleased with the response. The Kidsgrove Juniors took part in the Remebrance Parade on the 11th, leading the whole of the Kidsgrove community, they performed exceptionally well and the junior corps is going from strength to strength. For other reports on the Open rehearsal’s please read individual section reports below:-

Hornline
The hornline started rehearsal slightly later than other sections at 1:00pm. It was fantastic to see the majority of faces that marched in the 2007 hornline along with new faces to the Kidsgrove Scouts and also old faces returning.  After going through some new technique exercises and a couple of warm up pieces that Tez has been working on, the line then start to learn the opener for the 2008 show “Cirque d’ Illusion. Although there are some very tricky sections in the piece the hornline managed to finish the opening piece of about two and half mins on the 11th & then clean it on the 25th. On the 9th December the hornline continued to push forward and not only completed the whole of the second number but also completed the ballard.

The hornline for 2008 is already slightly larger than last year and with a great deal of interest from other people the 08 line promises to be not only larger but also better than the impressive 07 line.

Percussion.
With the frontline not starting rehearsal until December all the focus was on how would the 08’battery be looking. With a number of people returning to line after a year or so out and a lot of interest from outside people the 08 drumline will nearly triple in size. This is very impressive but the quality of the line after only two rehearsal’s was way beyond expectation for staff & members, the 08 line has the sky as their limit if they continue to progress in the same manner.

Winter Guard
The Winterguard have been rehearsing well now since the middle of October and are well into their preparation’s performing the show “Amen”. Welcoming back Martin & Sharron Ibbs to the organisation has been fantastic for everyone concerned. On the 25th we took the opportunity to showcase the guard to the membership performing the first few minutes of the show. This was very impressive and everyone is looking forward to the 13th January, the first WGUK show of the year.

Overall the organisation is moving forward at great speed in all areas, the momentum we have gained from 07 is driving us all forward into 2008 in which promises to be an awesome experience for everyone involved with The Kidsgrove Scouts.
